Wood Borer

Wood borer is not that uncommon in Canberra. It is seen in most paling fences and the borer in these palings were in the timber before the timber was milled. This is evident by the longitudinal cuts of the borer tunnels. But there is live borer around as well as it can be found in fences and posts and even in joists under the house.

Borer is not the same problem as termites, but they can destroy timber, which then needs replacing and the areas treated by a reputable treatment company.

Most borer in Canberra this inspector has found is pinhole borer and powderpost beetle, but there are other types here too.
